I found a crack in the finish of my mandolin.
It's on the backside right where the peghead meets the neck. It appears to go all the way through the finish. It's 4 tenths of an inch long. Is there any way to stop it from spreading? Any advice on what to do here? Am I just paranoid? Help!

You need to take your mando to a COMPETENT luthier and determine if it is just the finish or if you have more serious problems !!!

What kind of mandolin is it? I would suggest contacting the company to see if this issue can be addressed. And no, you're not being paranoid.

It's a Michael Kelly and I got it on a trade with someone.
I didn't notice the crack when I got it.It appears to be just a finish crack. I figured since it was a cheaper mandolin maybe this was normal.I did apply some serious pressure to that area to see what would would happen and nothing did.I figured if that would of snapped it then it wasn't woth keeping around anyway. I knew I should of kept the Absaroka. As soon as I can afford it, I will be going back to American made again, but for now this is what I have.
