A friend says going to the "tusq" nut will improve tone greatly. It's supposed to be some kind of new material, similar to bone but without irregularities. For 8$, why not? Don't know if the ones I found online will fit the Freshwater.

Also went with a new set of Grover machines. BIG difference! Don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems like the tone, clarity and sustain improved by leaps & bounds.

Tusq is plastic. Forget the sales hype - bone sounds and works way better.

A healthy imagination is always a good thing! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
