About the Klamath River Music Camp & Sandy Bar Ranch
The idea behind the Klamath River Music Camp is to provide an opportunity for acoustic musicians of various levels and styles to come together in a beautiful mountain setting and supportive environment. We hosted our first Music Camp in June of 2004 and it was a huge success. We keep the setup simple to keep costs down - lodging is in riverside cabins, hostel style, or camping. We will serve one meal a day and participants are on their own for the other two. Sandy Bar Ranch is located on the Klamath River in Northern California. We have four redwood cabins on the river and a 1 acre homestead where we grow a lot of our own food. You can check out our website at Sandy Bar Ranch (http://sandybar.com/). Anyone who has been to the Klamath River in Northern Humboldt County knows how uniquely beautiful this corner of California is. We are in the middle of the Six River National Forest and close to 4 wilderness areas - Siskiyou, Marble Mountain, Russian and Trinity Alps. We're right on the Klamath River, which offers swimming, fishing & rafting, and just 7 miles from the Salmon River, which has world class kayak runs and some of the best swimming holes anywhere.

About Dix Bruce
We're very excited to have Dix Bruce as our guest instructor this year! Dix has been active in the San Francisco music scene since the 1970’s, when he first teamed up with mandolinist David Grisman to edit the Mandolin World News. A multifaceted musician and prolific writer, his guitar, mandolin and banjo playing is featured on six of his own CD releases. To date Mel Bay Publications has published over thirty five of Bruce’s instructional book and CD sets along with two instructional videos; covering everything from bluegrass and old time music, to blues and jazz. Acoustic Musician magazine describes Dix Bruce as a “…west coast virtuoso.”
