Just saw a bit of information on these . 30watts 5" speaker.
XLR 15v phantom, and high Z 1/4" inputs.. 100-15khz frequency response output.
Mic stand mount, and a switching powersupply to run off AC 90-240v, or 12vDC, auto cig lighter or battery clips.
roughly a 7" cube, looks pretty darn practical. and immensly portable.

Have not seen those yet. I 've got a couple of the PAX140s and they are great for small rooms, and will drive other speakers. Galaxy makes good equipment.

Steve, heres some info: http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i....xy.html (http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-GAA-MICROSPOTPW--live-sound--m-06--brand-100--bd-galaxy.html)

this is only self powered, not made to run more 2-16ohm speakers or 1 -8 ohm
do you use larger diameter speakers for lower frequency respone with the PAX140s?
for a while Galaxy paired them with 8" drivers in a single cabinet.

I 've got some 10" Peavey monitors that I drive with it. I only use them when I can't get the bigger monitors out. That is a nice little box, but I would go for the more powerful and versitile PAX140 for a few bucks more.

Im thinking: jam monitor and recreational busking on the street with a battery sort of use.
[wonder how big a solar panel it would require?]
finally sold my vibro-champ, this seems an upgrade from 8 watts..
an Etek notemix runs 2 E-V sx80s or 2 Carvin pm5 for other stuff.
yea 2/3 of the other the 140, in $

For a jam monitor, it would probably be fine, for a busking speaker, something larger and more full-range might be better.
I tried these but chose the three-pack of the HotSpots over the larger ones. The square ones sound a little better, but the smaller ones obscure the stage's sight lines a bit less.
I've never tried to power speakers other than the other HotSpots with the PAX140, nice idea...
One thing about the HotSpot trio package, which is the PAX140 head and two passive ones... The speaker in the powered unit is a different ohm load than the passive ones, so it spews at 3db hotter than the other ones no matter what. Foo. I've railed at the Galaxy folks about this already, I think it's a really dumb thing to do, for a buncha reasons. In response they offered to sell me the same speakers as in the head unit, and they'll fit right into the satellites, for $60 each (plus shipping). Double Foo, and Grrrr.
Oh, well. The HotSpots work great for our acoustic Irish trio (even qtets), and for our all-original acoustic qtet, too.

tried the 16 ohm passives, with 2 5"drivers,steve,I sold them to someone who used them daisy chained (8ohm combined)for vocal/singer's monitors. I think the wiring scheme is series, thats why the output is less, same driver, different wiring scheme. I replaced them with Carvin PM5s which is an 8ohm 2 way.
With the Etek, it makes a better small stereo PA.
suitcase full of cables kinda makes its compactness sort of a moot point.
