I just thought I would let everyone know a bit about this 1974 F5 that is on ebay. I was very close to the owner of this mandolin, as he was more than just my step father, but he was my good friend as well. He has passed away. I am not sure of who is the current owner of this, as it went to his son, and I couldn't use the mandolin, though it was kindly offered to me. The tone bars were reworked by Daniel Smith. The original finish was removed and the top and back regraduated from the outside to the specs of a 1925 F5, then refinished, by the owner. I will say that this mandolin sounds very good indeed- nothing like it originally did. A very great player.
