Hello, im just starting to play mandolin and im looking for an inexpensive mandolin. Could anyone tell me what they think about the Rogue FM-80E Acoustic-Electric Mandolin. I would appreciate it. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I have the accoustic only version of that. The G strings sound dead, almost muted. The D, A, and E sound really nice though. I'm not sure what the reason is and I'm almost embarrassed to take it anywhere to have it looked it. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I bought mine because it was dirt cheap and I figured if the mandolin wasn't for me I'd just give it to my 2 year old to bang on when I played my guitar. As it turns out I'm playing the thing several hours a day and have only picked up my guitar once in about a month.

If I had it to do over again I would have bought a Kentucky to learn on.

Great plugged in, nice smooth neck & action, not much to speak of acoustic, though very playable, IMWO.
