A big thank you to our own Jim Richter who did a great job hosting and to Mike Compton who taught. They provided a great workshop on Monroe style mandolin.
I will provide some interesting pictures.

Will playing my Tippen and Steve playing a Mandola. Not only can they both make great instruments, but they were great to pick with (and to pick their brains, what a wealth of knowledge).

Mike teaching class. How many people do you know who would use Vincent Van Gogh as metaphor for Monroe's approach to mandolin playing...AWESOME.

Excuse the poor quality pictures. They were as a result of a poor photographer, me. We all had a great time. The pictures don't do justice to the experience.

Scott Carnder, the gent with the blonde A mandolin, is actually holding my new Kimble which I received in trade for the Kimble F5 I just sold. #It is an early A5 that is a "homage" to the Jim Nikora Dude A5 (w/ Super 400 inlays. #refer to the Dude thread in post your picture to see Nikora's). #

It was great having you out both nights Tony. #Sorry I couldn't stick around Saturday night. #

It was a great workshop, Mike is as good a teacher as he is a player. What a great day! Wish I could have been there for the picking each night but duty called. We need to make that a yearly event!

Jim,

Good to see you're still playing a Kimble.

I dreamed about Will's mandolins last night!

Will, Steve, and myself on guitar. Steve is playing the newest Kimble mandola, just finished last week. That mandola is now in the possession of Compton, so be watching for it at one of Mike's upcoming gigs.
