Saw the Randy Wood #2 for sale on Ebay and was wondering. Why is the Gibson logo partially covered by the D string Tuner? The only reason I can think is it was inlayed prior to drilling the holes for the tuners. Question #2 Knowing the way Gibson is about trademark infringement, seems like they would have a cow over something like that. I guess as long as you don't try to sell it as an original Gibson instrument they don't mind. thanks

Actually after looking a little closer at the picture I just posted I can see that the original holes were plugged and redrilled. #That explains that I guess, although I would have opted to find something that matched the hole pattern a little better.

there was quite an active thread on this mando a while ago...this was the great Roland White's mandolin for many years and loaded with mojo.
It looks like the gears may have been replaced. Where as the old ones had the gears above the worm instead of below as is shown. It even looks like the old holes were filled in if you look right below the posts.

Additionally, All of Randy's first mandolins had the script off-center to the left
