Got to hook up with Jake Brown..hes really smooth player...plays a great Taggert mando and plays with the Wildwood Valley Boys....man to be young again. Plus..Michael Cleveland....now we all know what kind of Fiddler he is...Top shelf. But later in the evening...He, I and Jake sat down and picked a few. Mikes a great mando player too..and he has one of the nicest sounding Gilchrist's on the planet. Wish we had more time to spend together.

That's my old neck of the woods, Scotti. #Grew up a little ways off of Old Milan Road. #Remember playing electric guitar in one of my first southern rock bands in front of Harley Gabbard at an old tavern there named DJs. #Great town, great bluegrass (as well as basketball) history, and pretty representative of Ripley County overall. #Can also remember hearing Mike play back when he was 12 or so in the jams out around Henryville/Scottsburg Indiana. #One of the true greats in fiddling.

Yea, Jake Brown is great 'new' mandolin picker. That Taggart sounds good in his hands. I think they are made in Nashville, Indiana.
That area is where the Boys From Indiana are from also. I think they were one of the all time great bluegrass bands.

Bruce Taggart of Nashville IN makes the Taggart mandos. Very nice guy. John Greven, who used to live in Nashville, would make his inlays. If it's a Taggart from the early 80's, then Greven cut the inlays (like on the old A5 I used to have).
And yes, the Boys from Indiana are from Milan and for as long as I could remember usually hosted any bluegrass events out there. I'd be inclined to guess that Scotti jammed out at the American Legion out there, the location of almost every Boys From Indiana Bluegrass Festival.
