View Full Version : Pickguards
I need a new pickguard for my F5 copy. I was at the stewmac site and they're 110$. Anything less expensive out there? I do need the hardware as the hardware is pretty corroded presently.
Also, thanks to all regarding the extension scoop. Found a Luthier here in Milwaukee-Ron Jones- less than 100.

Neal, you might try Steve Smith at Cumberland Aclustic. He makes guards for Gibson plus has a few other designs. import copies are available for considerably less than you quoted. If you don't find what you want e-mail me.

I dont know if this will interest you, but Heres One that I made. Id be willing to make another if you want.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I'm trying to keep a traditional look on the little beast. I'm gonna need the post that goes on the rim, just tried to take it off, too corroded, can't get a purchase on the screw. Anyone know where I can buy the post without the pickguard?

Doesn't Stew/Mac have that stuff? Also try First Quality.

Hello Neal:
I purchased four mounting units from AllParts a short time ago. They have them in gold or chrome and the price isn't bad.

No, stewmac only sells the pickguard AND bracket, not the bracket itself. Grow, just ordered the post from allparts a few minutes ago... 11.00. Muchas gracias. Now the hunt is on for a plastic pickguard under 100.00 http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif !

I dont know if this is what you are looking for but,on the bottom of this page they sell them for $25

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. I asked them if it has the 2 little pins that attach to the neck. Heck, maybe they all do... Here's the pickguard that I want to replace.
I've emailed and called Michael Kelley, left a message, this was all about 5 days ago, still no response. Still no luck on a search for just the pickguard. Man, they're not cheap! Tried Greg Boyd, FQMS, etc.. If anyone has a spare laying around that looks like the one above... I'm getting the post from allparts, but they didn't have the pickguard.
Thanks guys/gals
Neal
Kind of doubt you'll find a pickguard as nice as that one without forking over a few bucks. It's likely you'll find something similar to what's on the Michael Kelly page that was previously mentioned(those prices seemed a bit steep).I was trying to find a similar pickguard a couple years or so ago and had not much luck.Seem to remember someone would make me one for $150.
