Wow, really liked the 1st episode of Handmade Music (was on tonight on DIY). They showed John Arnold felling a red spruce tree, quartering the wood, then on to the Dude making the top and back and doing the brace work. They had a fair amount of music too, from Kentucky Thunder, nice job of Shenandoa Breakdown to close the episode (but too much talking over it). It was not very detailed, and could have easily been made into a 1 hour show, but it was nice anyway. Lynn Dudenbostel looked very professional and was a natural on camera.

I'm ashamed to have to ask this -- but who all was picking in that group? They credited Cody Kilby with playing the guitar, but past that I was drawing some serious blanks. I thought I knew who played in Kentucky Thunder, but then I didn't recognize anybody! No Ricky, no Bobby Hicks, no Jim Mills. The mandolin player was great, sounded a lot like Thile but didn't look like him. Fiddler -- it could have been Andy Leftwich for all I know, cause I don't know what he looks like. Banjo player, I couldn't place either. Of course they never showed the bass player's face. But I feel stupid here -- any help?

By the way, it's supposed to come on Sat as well, for those who get DIY and missed it.

Andy was playing the Dude mando. Scott Vestal on banjo. The fiddler is unknown to me. The bass player is in Ricky's band and I don't recall his name.

Lynn's the best!
