I just purchased a used Suzuki Bowlback. It sounded pretty decent and most of all the Price was right $$$$.
Kudos to James Tanguay over at the The Folk Shop (http://www.thefolkshop.com) in Tucson, Arizona.

It lóóks like the frets were re-done. Pretty clean, no buzzing.

It lóóks to be in decent shape. #I would estimate it's probably about 15 to 20 yrs old. I was very surprised to hear how loud and bright this mando is.

Many of those are quite serviceable and usually the price is right. They are based on a Calace design.
Enjoy it! What type(s0 of music are you playing on it?

Jim,
I agree that the price was just right. I have to admit ( and shamefully ) that I'm not too familiar with the bowlback. I'm still in the "learning" stages.
Since we are now in the season of Lent, our church choir is performing songs that are mostly somber in nature. So far, the bowlback has fit right into the mood for the season.
When I get a way and practice on my own, I have been playing some bluegrass tunes just for fun, but it's clear that this is not a bluegrass instrument.
I've also been experimenting a bit and lóóking for a different sounds and practicing with some simple jazz chords and scales. However I was very surprised to hear how good Zeppelin tunes like "The Battle of Evermore" and "That's the Way" sound.
Pretty much, I'm impressed with this bowlback. It's definitely a long term keeper. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
