Following the detuning - travel thread, do you detune if the mandolin is going onto the unplayed reserves list for a time?
I have a 1916 F2 (pre-truss rod) that was stored for 60 years. The neck is perfectly straight and the top has very little or no sinkage. I didn't see it when it first left its closet, but I have to believe that someone detuned it.
What's the best practice? Detune if you won't be playing it for....6 weeks?...6 months?...
