It shouldn't have been done. It was sold too cheap. Now the most famous american musical instrument will reside with a group of offshore investors. Maybe they'll dig Bill up and send him over, and the cabin too, how much would that be worth? I may be over the line but this act was just wrong.

There was an elaborate April Fools joke played on the world today by an unknown person. It concerned the sale of Bill Monroe's mandolin to the Japanese. This bogus AP story broke today and was linked to a#fabricated Tennessean newspaper website. It had many of us fooled, and concerned.# The BMF spent a great deal of time today trying to figure out what was going on. For all of you who read the story, it ain't so. Thanks. The Bill Monroe Foundation continues to work at this 11th hour to bring the Mandolin home to Rosine.
