Not that I expect anyone to believe this, but my daughter watches "Franklin" on the NOGGIN channel here in the States. #The music during the show has a lot of really good mandolin prominently featured. #I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about the musicians? #I think the show originates in Canada if that helps.
Thanks,

I'm not sure who provides the music on "Franklin," but a lot of the Noggin shows have featured music by Dan Zanes, who frequently plays the mandolin.

I've noticed this, as well. The theme song is done by the great Bruce Cockburn, one of my favorite pickers.

Dan Zanes is great. Both my kids love his CDs DVDs and books. His live Dance Party shows are a blast. It is great to have music my kids love that doesn't come from puppets or purple dinosaurs. Check out Dan and Friends, hear clips, get chords and lyrics at FestivalFivedotcom (http://www.festivalfive.com/pages/home.php). Dan plays an old paddle head pumpkin top A oval and paddle head A5 for mandos. He also plays open back banjo, electric, accoustic and 12 string guitar. Great folk music.

Funny, I never stuck around for the credits, but always attributed the theme to Lyle Lovett. Shows how much I know!
Thanks for the responses. I'll have to check out more of Dan Zanes.

Dan's old band the Del Fuegos was and still is one of my favorite bands from the 80's and 90's. They were rough and raw at a time when lots of rock seemed processed and slick. Worth checking out. Frank
