View Full Version : JWE #3 Complete!
After much delay I finally squeezed in finishing up #3. #This one has an englemann spruce top and curly maple sides back and neck. #I am really happy with the sound; well balanced with a great bass/treble tone and a booming chop. #I have played with several people and so far have had no trouble with volume. #If I get a good reaction out of this one I'm considering on letting #4 go once it's built.
stunning mandolin. love the inlay !
Nice crest on that scroll http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Beautiful job. Love the inlay on the headstock.
Josh, that really looks great. You should be proud. I really like the color. Looks hand-rubbed. What dyes or stain did you use?
Beautiful color and I like the headstock inlay a lot!
Thanks for all the kind feedback.
Good eye SJennings, I did hand-rub the dyes. I used Behlen and TransTint liquid dyes to mix up these colors.
Gosh that's nice looking! My only recommendation would be a better quality bridge. Something this nice deserves it!
Lovely all over, but ditto the inlay.
That looks really good...you should be very proud.
Beautiful finish! I'd be proud to own it! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Very nice indeed. All told, how many hours do you imagine you have into that one?
VERY nice .....I love everything about it ....It looks vintage and modern all in one .....Jim
Thank you all very much for the great feedback. #The first thing I've done is order a new bridge... I agree. #
Mojo: #I've never really kept track of my hours but I'd estimate around 150 hours. #I could build a lot faster if I didn't have to go to work all the time http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
WOW!!! This is so beautiful!!! I can't believe that this is only your 3rd mandolin. Will you be selling your 4th? Let me know if you will be. Can't wait to see it!!! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Very, very nice! I'll bet that center section of the peghead inlay gave you fits. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
It's great to see a new builder break through. #Wonderful work, deserving of a professional's price.
I couldn't cut a square piece off a 1x12 plank - let alone create such a beautiful work of art. Exceptional job! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
WOW ! ! I have to agree with you.
I am beginning to feel the same way after beginning to build this A style. I have more appreciation than I ever knew for some of this artist building mandos!
