...A fabulous Cape Breton style fiddler. She's the Sam Bush or David Grisman of her style of fiddling.

Hang onto your seat with Natalie MacMaster because she's a dynamo. She's worked with Allison krauss, Mark O'Connor, Ricky Scaggs. She comes from a long line of Cape Breton musicians. Her uncle, Buddy MacMaster, is the Godfather of the Cape Breton/Celtic fiddle.

Natalie will knock yer socks off!!! She's something akin to the very best mando players except she plays fiddle. Comes from a long line of maritime fiddlers (more Canadian exports).

She plays mainly Cape Breton style, but can play most anything she sets her mind to.

Plus she's drop dead gorgeous.

Do I sound biased?? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Better believe it.

In addition to the virtuosity and pulchritude that others have already noted, the woman can dance! To be able to play fiddle that well and simultaneously step dance - well, it is whole different level of talent. You will not be disappointed!

Natalie is in my opiniong, the premiere melody player in the entire genre.. one of my absolute favorite never-miss-a-gig performers.

saw both of them at the boston folk fest last year and she blew away the crowd!

I would view it as seeing Natalie Macmaster with the added bonus of Sam Bush.

That said, I have to admit that my favorite of the younger fiddlers is Ashley MacIsaac -- but only when he's playing straight ahead Cape Breton style. His tone would impress Heifetz!

Her name is written bigger on the ticket than his!!

Imagine Ricky or Marty banging out Rawhide, now add River Dancin' on top of that and you have Natalie. What an experience!!

Her uncle is Buddy MacMaster, a world renown Celtic fiddler. They did a TV special for his 80th birthday, Natalie was on it and said something like, Well Buddy, I sure am glad that your my Uncle. She is known to show up at local dances when she is in Judique, Cape Breton (her hometown). She'll just drop in and play. She is a real Sweetheart and you will love her performance.

One of our totally hot Canadian exports, she has it all.
The very traditional step dancing while fiddling is great.
I love Sam Bush, and all things mando, but, as one of the others said, view this as Natalie, with Sam as a bonus.

Say she's playing the fiddle now? I've seen her at MerleFest some 5 times and never noticed a fiddle.
She dances pretty good to. I bet her and Sam do a duet together.

totally my opinion- but lets not get crazy putting her ahead of sammy b. who has melded genres and influenced/helped change music in a way that natalie m (though a great performer) certainly hasn't at this point. sam's shows are high energy as well- without the riverdance stuff.
