What's so good about the Gibson Master-Model/Distressed Master Model? I am a noob, so I guess I don't know that much. Why is it worth its 15-25K price tag? I have always wanted to ask that but never got around to it.

Ryan, I'm not sure how your post would be offensive to anyone, We are all entitled to their own opinion http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
If you are interested in other people's opinion on these mandolins, I suggest you have a look at the VERY EXTENSIVE discussions about this, via the search function. Here is a selection:
- Played Gibson MM Distressed, Other models too for comparison: here (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=13;t=30007;hl=gibson+and+di stressed).
- Gibson Master Model, Potential collectibility?: here (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=12;t=31194;hl=gibson+and+di stressed).
- ¿Distressed?, ...silly question: here (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=12;t=25363;hl=gibson+and+di stressed).
and plenty more if you sieve through these search results (http://www.mandolincafe.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=Search;CODE=02;SID=43fe45a32ba7c 39c;st=20)

If I understand the definition of "noob" correctly, it could be that Zzoundss isn't aware that Gibson practically invented what we think of today as the modern mandolin. From this there stems an "aura" that surounds Gibson mandolins, and aura does command a price.

Ah, Ok. Gotcha. I didn't think i was going to actually offend people, but I thought some people live and die with old Gibsons, and I dont know why.

Doesn't offend me, but I do think you're fishing. Play elsewhere.
