Well, this is my 2nd anniversary as a Cafe' member and my 1000th post...Now, many of my posts consisted of thoughtful and enlightening comments like "Schweeeet..." (if some posted a good looking piece), "Right On!" (to folks who were celebrating an achievement of some sort) and "Welcome to the dark side..." (to new members), but I also asked a lot of questions and got MANY thoughtful and helpful answers. I just want to thank everyone here, especially Scott and Ted.
Without this site it would've taken me much longer to figure out the difference between an A and an F style (I thought it had something to do with tuning). I wouldn't have heard a large number of artists out there who play things other than Blue Grass. No offense to Blue Grass fans, but it's not my favorite genre (but I have learned to appreciate it much more these past two years). I probably would not have discovered Mandola, Octave Mandolin and Electric Mandolin as quickly (I own one of each now...my bank account does not thank you).
