Anybody here going to Clarion Folk College in western PA? Barring that, who's been in the past?

Is it too late to sign up!? That sounds awesome, and it's not too far from my area. Last summer I went to a track and field camp at that college. That sure sounds like fun, I wish I had heard of it sooner.

Yeah, I'm going. I've been signed up for a month now. If you want to volunteer three hours of your time, your tuition will be cut in half (does not include dorm fee). I learned from past festivals that volunteering my time can really enhance the event, so even if they didn't reduce my tuition, I would have volunteered anyway. I've never been to Clarion before, but I'm really looking forward to it.

Is there any interest in the Mandolin Cafe folks all getting together while we're there? Maybe we could all have dinner some night.

No, it's not too late to sign up. I think you can until April 15th. I wouldn't mind volunteering for three hours- sounds like a great deal.

Anyway, I will be thrilled to have other living, breathing human beings to pick along with. Meeting other MC folks would be grand. All we have to do is look for the telltale yellow and black stickers.

I think I must just be able convince my dad to let me go. As far as volunteering time, what does it involve? Do you mean like . . . cleaning bathrooms, or just like . . .helping out with musical stuff. Anyways, I'd love to be able to go, and I think I might be able to.

I don't know exactly what volunteer work I'll be doing. I imagine it will be basic logistical work, like helping man booths, putting up signs, posting schedules, setting up and tearing down the different rooms. I didn't get into the details. I figure if the work is THAT bad, I can just refuse then cough up the other half of the tuition. I've never been asked to do hard or nasty work as a volunteer, but like I said, I've never been to Clarion before.

I don't have any Mandolin Cafe stickers yet, but I just made a donation to the site, so I should be getting them before the festival. I don't know how many I'll get, but I'll bring whatever I have and hand them out to other MC folks (if I meet any).

I take it you're a minor..? I wonder if there are legal problems with letting minors volunteer. Anyone know? Regardless, here's contact information for the organizer at Clarion University.

Yeah, I'm 15. I sure hope that I'm allowed to volunteer, because I can't afford the whole amount if I have to pay it http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Well, either way, I"M GOING AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME!

I have a dozen MC stickers on the way, so if anyone here runs across me at Clarion and doesn't have a sticker (and wants one), just ask.
