i feel like mines vintage now...

i must say i personally prefer the non bursted ones.

i just realized that my previous post may have seemed a little harsh. i love my A9, im just not much of a fan of sunbursts. if i played a bursted one that sounds like mine does to me, id get it anyhow.

It seemed fine. I have a earlier A9 and F9 and I prefer the non burst myself. If they get the Flatiron rolling again I want a F4 in the solid brown of our A9's.

You should see them in person because they really, really look nice. I think the sunburst on the F-9 with the satin finish looks great. Totally makes the mandolin to me but I know that not all people have my tastes.

Looks a lot like the collings MT... so it would seem a lot of folks have similar tastes. I'd bet the burst would appeal to a larger audience, frankly.

Looks nice but I prefer my "non-burst" A-9, personally. I agree with Phish, I'm more interested in the sound when it comes down to it.
