Just curious...Did you take off all of the strings at one time? I did this once to a mandolin and the loss of tension on the neck caused it to change and some strings buzzed. For some strange reason this was due to the truss rod being loose...probably not tight to begin with. I tightened the truss rod and the buzz went away.

Disclaimer: I by no means am an expert at fine tuning mandolins, especially truss rods. I did some research that begain with the Cafe archives and learned how to adjust a truss rod and this solved the problem. This might be what happened to you and I wanted to pass on my experience to you.

See what some more experienced folks have to say about this.

I too am by no means an expert. In my limited experience I find that strings are pretty "jangly" at first. Once they settle in they lose it. Wait it out a bit. I know what you feel like tho, my first instinct is to panic.
