Hey all,
You may remember my last post bragging about making it a whole year without MAS. Well, like anything you proclaim from the rooftops, that statement has come back to haunt me. Not one month after getting my new one I've been struck. This isn't a lack in the mandolin I currently have, it's great. It's just that I have "an offer I can't refuse" on a great mando. So now I'm upgrading again. I'm selling everything. CD's, movies, my new mando. Just put up an accessory for my camera on ebay. Problem is I think I'm about 200 bones away. What other items have you guys sold to fund MAS?

You could sell your soul...But then you'd wind up spending eternity with banjo players. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Sell the snow tires, the snow blower, the snowmobile, anything to do with winter because in the world of a new mandolin it's always 75degF and sunny.
Then make an appointment with either a good therapist, or your financial planning advisor. One of them will have to help you fund or adjust your dreams.
Best,

do you have any old albums that are collectors items? i was amazed how much some of my old punk rock #records were going for on ebay. of course, they have to be in pristine condition.
& i just sold 2 electric guitars, a amp, a national style o, and my '21 gibson a-2 to finance my new mandolin. & i'm not the least bit sorry.

sell old clothes, shoes, ski clothes, extra or doubles of tools, mando frog statues, hawaiian shirts, got any?,books, especially music books, fake books, lyric books, coats, bluejean jackets, blood or plasma, that will get you money fast. If you have been vaccinated for hepatitis B you can sell some blood and make a bunch that is if there is still a shortage of the vaccine.I think you can get $250-$300.There was an add on TV here for donors not too long ago it's be worth checking. It don't hurt much ,about like sticking your finger with the cut off end of the string at the tuners.

I made quite a bit selling NOS gun parts, I had a gun stock and some 15 round magazines that netted me a bundle.

You could always sell a body part. Aww, come on, you don't really need that foot, do you? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ya gotta practice, right? So find a train station or bus stop or whatever, and leave that 'ol case open in an inviting fashion, and practice away.
Last Christmas one of the 9 year olds that takes violin lessons from the same teacher as my daughter pulled in $60 in half an hour at a city park before the cops chased him and his dad out. His dad, btw, did about $20 in the same time juggling while riding a unicycle. The wierd thing is, the city is always begging for groups to come and play (for free, of course) at this event, with few takers. Go figger.

Hey all,
Thanks for the advice so far. I love hearing the lengths people will go to for mando purchase. Took your advice and put a bunch of my Mom's old records on ebay. If you feel like helping out go look for seller jpaulcypert. Just no cracks about the records being sold http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Dissapointed that some other stuff didn't sell ie. 5 disk Sony cd changer. Oh well. I'll raise the money for sure. I'm keeping the mando a secret because I don't want to get my hopes up and something happen. Expect pics in a while.
