Is Dwight McCall's mandolin a Bush model with a Fern inlay, an F5L with block inlay, or neither? Whichever, it sure sounds good.

it's an early 30s, I believe a 1932, Gibson F5.

Didn't realize it was an old one. Were many Ferns made with the block inlay?

Yes there were a few. I have a '35 fern with block at 3rd.
The ones between 1930 and 1935 which was the last of the Ferns generally are suppose to have blocks.

He told me it's a 1934 model, all original.

Pretty darn nice, too.......

And which serial number is this one?
What kind of tuners are on it?

The serial number is 88144. I put Schallers on it about 10 years ago. Unfortunately the originals were thrown away when they went bad. You may remember I sent you some pictures awhile back before I had a decent camera.
