Janette Carter, daughter of A.P. and Sara Carter and long-time operator of The Carter Family Fold (http://www.carterfamilyfold.org) music venue died last month. #Details are on the website given. #
Visits to the Carter Fold in the 70s were a key part of my early exposure to bluegrass and old time music and lead me to the mandolin (although it took a few years).

I appreciate your bringing that information to our attention, Tim. I remember listening to Carter family music back in the '60s, when I started playing in earnest. We still enjoy picking those tunes in local jams; they should live forever!

A quote from the Robin & Linda Williams enewsletter:
"Jim Watson sang at the funeral of Jeanette Carter. Jeanette, as many of you know, was the daughter of A.P. and Sarah Carter of the famed Carter Family whose music has had a profound effect on, not just us, but anyone who's ever
listened to or picked a country song. She died on January 22 after a long and productive life. Jim, along with Mike Craver and Bill Hicks, sang Daniel Prayed at the ceremony. Jeanette's lifes work was dedicated to the music of the
Carter Family and Old Time Music. She was the last sibling of the original Carter Family and she'll be missed by all who knew her."
Jim, Mike and Bill were members of the Red Clay Ramblers, an eclectic old time band also featuring the late Tommy Thompson.
