From what I have read many of you on the forum play guitar as well as Mandolin (I too am trying to pick it up) #Well I heard this guy who is amazing at guitar and worth sharing with all of you. He is one of my favorites but be warned that he is good in the way that people like Al Dimeola and Tim Reynolds are good. #It is a little differant (not differant like Tim) but he is amazing and can get an accoustic guitar to make some amazing sounds. #His web site is www.marcuseaton.com #His music streams from the site! Tell me what you think.

I've heard more amazing guitar players. Scott Nygard, Bryan Sutton, Tony Rice, Mike Marshall--yup, I said Mike Marshall. Well, that's just my opinion.
Gotta give it up for Marcus, being from the same hometown and all. In all fairness, he really is a world away from Sutton, Rice etc... Certainly a different sound, lots of looping and such, about as far from the bluegrass sound as you can get, but a very talented guitarist for sure. It is cool to see him go from playing small free gigs in Idaho to touring and opening for Tim Reynolds, who's playing is mind boggling, by the way. Never thought I'd see his name pop up here on the Cafe. As for obligatory mandolin content, I have jammed along to one of Marcus's CD's I have on my mandolin... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I would say this guy exists somewhere between John Mayer and Dave Matthews in both style and skill. He definitely does have talent and ability, but like some others have said, I wouldn't place him up towards the top of the guitarists I've heard. Nonetheless, some cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.
