Okay, this is sort of a crazy question, but where do you store your tone gard when not in use? I have a Travelite shaped case and there is no way it will fit in the case with my mandolin (not that I would want to do that).
Any suggestions would be helpful. At the moment it is sitting atop my keyboard, and ultimately gets moved a lot!
Thanks.

I leave my 2 in place,[TKL archtop rectangle, and original A4 case] you may have the wrong case for the combination, taking it on and off repeatedly, means at some point it wont fit well... what retaining springyness is there, will not last, its mild steel and not spring tempered.
new Case shopping opportunity..
Both of mine (guitar and mandolin) fit in their cases so they stay on all the time.

I hardly ever take mine off, unless I'm in the studio.
I have two of 'em and the only time I remove one is to put it on another mando or when I put one of them in the shop. Mine fit fine in a TKL case and both of the Eastman cases. Maybe you would want to look for another case...just a suggestion.

My Tone-Gard is "part of my instrument". It fits in my Bobelock double case, my Calton and Eastman cases (oblong) also.

I have to keep my mandolin out of the case because I have one ToneGard on the back, and one on the front, because I read somewhere that they improve tone. It's a little harder to get to the strings, but it sure prevents player wear. Frank

No worries, Frank.
Use a longer pick!
