View Full Version : Anybody out there own a J Bovier Mando?

Jan-17-2006, 8:42am
Just came from a big guitar show in Columbus, Ohio where I saw and played several J Bovier[B][I] mandolins. They were right around $700 & $800 and they looked and played great.
Anybody out there ever play one?...own one?
I'm looking to do a slight upgrade from a Samick, solid top mandolin that has been my introduction to playing mando. #Been a guitar player exclusively...until recently.... Can't seem to get the mando out of my hands.. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

J BOVIER ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENTS. Guitar, banjo, mandolins, octave mandolin, mandola,
bouzouki. 859-363-1026, e-mail: jeff@mandolins.net, www.jbovier.net.

This from an add in Bluegrass Unlimited. Not much information but there are more private label off shore instruments being offered by little guys. I saw someone at the Philly guitar show a while back that has reasonably priced mandos that he said were made for him in China. I don't think I picked on any but they looked great. This is not to discourage you, they might be a good buy if the sound/playability is enough of an improvement over what you have presently. I don't think they are imported under this name anymore, but I was knocked out by a couple of Olympia F-models that I played a couple of years back. They were selling for around $500.00. I didn't need another F-model at the time but I was tempted to get one.
Good Luck!
