There is a great looking 3 point F4 style mandolin for sale on the cafe. It's an Old Time made in Rochester New York. His other instruments also look great. http://www.oldtimemandolin.com/
Does anyone have any personal experience with these to be able to comment on their sound? Thanks.

Shows how much I pay attention. I've lived in Rochester for 15 years and never knew about this place!

Actually, a friend had a meeting in Rochester, home of Old Time mandolins, and he picked it up for me. Nothing like having someone fly in to pick up your mando for you. No UPS worries. Kevin was very nice to pick him up at the airport and take him to his hotel, Thanks Kevin!
I should recieve it later today but advanced reports (my friend and bandmate, Brian, a great mando player and monster guitar player) said that the instrument is awesome both in looks, volume, and playability. Can't wait till he delivers it to me. John

Hello Tim ~
Long time, no see...
That F4 is gorgeous for sure - don't know anything more about it other than that.
Good to see your name - take care.

Ok, put about 20 minutes into it now, between customers and the UPS man bringing in 10 boxes. Happy to report that it is what I had expected. A very cool and unusual looking instrument. Varnish finish. Excellent action, very comfortable neck, crazy curly maple back, sides, neck and back of headstock. Need to put new strings on it and cruise it a little more. Photos from Kevin's web site of the exact instrument that I bought. J http://oldtimemandolin.com/F4_BFM.html

John,
Congrats! I've seen and heard your mandolin. It is gorgeous. Mine is the A style (Kevin's first A). Kevin's L&H model is also wonderful, Eric. I would've posted sooner but I've been out of town.

My, that's one fine lookin' mandolin! It's got the old time look, but X braced. I bet it's a great all around instrument for many styles.
