Great frist one! I like the wine back.
Congrats nice job. Like the finish a lot.
Charles, Great looking mando. How about a closeup of the fretboard inlay? That looks real neat.
Good job. Some day I've got to try it.
here is the pic of the fretboard inlay, with a
V at the bottom, i named the mando thebig V. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I agree with the rest. That color is a pleasant change from the usual.
The first time you string one up and hear what you've created makes it all worth it if everything went right. Listening to it open up is like watching your child learn to walk.
Did S-M supply that kit with the new-type of binding?
If so, how was it to work with?
Charles, I saw the V in the extension and the diamond inlays and wanted a closer look. My #1 is in builders section under the Storm is here. Again good work.
being pretty new at this, i am not sure what you mean when you say new binding. the binding came in three piecies and i had to laminate it together. i bought the laminator from stewmac, and put them together. worked really well and took very little time.
as far as puting the binding on, i used a (good) hair dryer to bend it (worked really well) and the big rubber bands from stewmac to wrap around body and the binding, and used the weld on 16 cement. it all suuck really good on the first try. (fooled me)
thanks to all for the nice comments. i really appreciate them.
