I'm new to this Celtic section. Hi. I have the new Corrs Cd called HOME and I really love it. The band seems to to have gone back to their roots on this wonderful cd. What do you folks think? Nick Triesch

Hiya Nick,

Welcome to the Celtic board, although I should really leave it up to one of the regulars to welcome you. I'm an infrequent poster here. Kids will do that to you, although I'm not complaining; wouldn't swap mine for anything. Well, maybe a nice Sobell... :-)

I really like Home, although I do think the arrangements are a bit busy at times. My favourite Corrs album is the Unplugged set by a wide margain, mainly because it is stripped back. I think they're a great band however most of their studio stuff is over produced for my tastes (a result of working with the likes of Mutt Lange I guess).

I love their take on Old Town, and as an old Thin Lizzy fan, it was great to see it chosen as the first single.

Cheers,

Simon

I've heard Old Town on XM Radio and really enjoy it, but haven't heard the rest of the CD. Is it similar in feel and instrumentation?

Old Town is probably the rockiest arrangement, although the rest of the album is pretty similar in feel. Lovely version of McGarrigle's Heart Like A Wheel. According to the liner notes, Anthony Drennan plays guitar and mandolin "on all tracks" except one. Haven't had a chance to properly sit down and listen carefully for the mando content yet.

Cheers,

Simon

I think it is a good album but I wouldn't rate it as their best. That of course is just personal preference though. I have several of their dvds and they are great.

Hi Nick
It's about time you come around to Celtic music. Now, if I could just get you to play in our Scottish band! Two mandos would be so cool.

See ya,

I just wanted to add that it is rare that I find a band that I like 90 percent or better of their music. The Coors on the other hand don't have a song, so far, that I can't listen to. I have all the albums of them I could get and love them all. John
