View Full Version : Case for Gibson F2
I finally found myself a cool Gibson F2, but unfortunately, it is arriving without a case. What's a good case for an F2? The Golden Gate vintage case looks cool, but I read some comments on the Cafe regarding lack of padding. Any cases that have a known issue with the shorter neck length?
Thanks!
GO for the golden gate, order a replacement handle at the same time.. I carried my F4 in it. No problem with padding, it's a very good replacement with similar protetcion to an original.. if you don't want to go all the way up to an expensive flight case
I agree with Dan, the Golden Gate vintage look case is a perfect match for an old F2.And very affordable http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The Golden Gate has the perfect look but I think it is too big ! My F-2 rattles around in it = not good ! Very little padding also.....
I now carry her in a TKL which fits PERFECTLY ! ( though a bit heavy)

Heavy is good. More protection. Carry a guitar in a Calton Deluxe for a little while and you really won't notice the weight.
FWIW, F-2s rattled around in their original cases. My F-4's original case is super clean and destined to remain so, since I carry the mandolin in a newer TKL.

TKL tweed for my 13'F2. It is a perfect fit and does not move at all inside the closed case.
My Breedlove currently lives in a TKL tweed. Sounds like she's going to have to go live in a Travelite so's the F2 can move into the TKL. Thanks for the advice!
