There were some discussions of the St. Louis Tionol over in the slip jig thread, and I found some new info about the Tionol schedule so I thought I should add it under a new topic.

The Tionol is a weekend gathering of sessions, classes/workshops, a concert by the instructors, and more sessions. #It's a great gathering, loads of fun.

Here is the web address

http://www.tionol.org

I mentioned some of the instructors from the online schedule at the website, but I've just learned that the website is NOT CURRENT, and that to see the most current details, follow these instructions:

> ... you need to print out the .pdf snail-mail form, not the html one. #

and

> #... #John Carty is doing the
> Advanced Fiddle workshop.
> Ged Foley is teaching Intermediate Fiddle; there is no
> Beginning Fiddle yet.

That from box-player Richard King from Vincennes, Indiana, thanks Richard!

I sort of doubt that John Carty will show up without a banjo, tho... <GG>

John Carty always borrows a banjo when he comes over to St. Louis, probably because his is too nice to travel with <G>

I decided to take the banjo/mandolin course again this year from Tom Hall. My fiddle playing (a euphemism) is not up to par for either JC or Ged Foley. I am looking forward to the good time.

For those of you who have never been to the Mississippi River Celtic Festival (I think that is the official name) it is the best bargain in the festival trail. For $90 you get access to some of the best musicians in the world (for another $18 a terrific, long concert) and wall to wall sessioning in a nice set of pubs. The food there is good too. The only drawback is that you do need a car to get around depending on where you are staying.

Steve, I think I do remember Tom Hall and look forward to hearing what he has to offer.

Hi Mike!

I'm glad to know that you'll be there! Keith Dubinsky, from here on the Cafe, is coming from the Bay Area in Calif., and the Bloomington, IN, crew will be there in some strength (as usual). It's going to be a good time.

They have a new Irish language class program that I'd LOVE to take, but I just can't tear myself away from the session time, so I just have to keep saving up for the Stv Returns To Ireland Fund and learn it there... <GG>

Also, I fondly remember your generosity in taking the time to let me play with your big F-style octave mandolin in the entryway of the brewpub, as you were trying to leave! <GG>

See ya there! Woohoo!
