You can expect to get blown away! Not from volume, but from the talent! These guys are unreal! I got to see them in Indianapolis last month. What a reality check. I thought I was doing pretty good for playing a couple of years, but I know I'll never reach their level of playing.
Mike and David both seem like just a couple of everyday guys, and would be a lot of fun just to hang out with. I can guarantee you'll have a great time.

Howdy

Check out Mike's website: http://www.mikecompton.net

We've got up plenty of sound samples, video (though none of Mike with David. If you would like to see some video of David--with Chris Sharp--go here:
David Long/Chris Sharp videos (http://www.richterdigitalarts.net/Video/SharpLong/SharpLong.html),), tons of pictures, and of course, commentary from Mike in his online journal of the different gigs they've done this past fall.

Some great stories, some excellent Monroe style mandolin, some great tips on proper technique, and some great music. Plus Mike and David are both down to earth guys.

You're in for a treat. I just saw them last week here in Nashville at the Station Inn. Compton picked a guitar (very well, too) maybe 1/3 of the set. Both guys interchangeably played all of the mandolins they brought, including Kimble mandos and mandola, and Gilchrist mandolins. Wait until you hear the Kimble A-oval hole belonging (I think) to David Long - it's sweet as can be. The highlights for me were the several gospel numbers they played and sang on, eg, Gospel Plow and Every Humble Knee Must Bow, but the whole show was great.
