Well, I never thought I would be here but I became a grandfather yesterday. Her name is Cathrine Nicole Newell and I have had to spend the last day thinking how I feel about this. On the first hand Im really happy for my son and to see such a beautifull lil fresh new life but hey! Im about 2 years past High School in my mind. Does life really pass this fast?!?! OMG I better get with it and do the stuff I wanted to accomplish!
#I never seemed to be able to interest my own kids in playing an instrument like I have all my life but now in a few years I will have a fresh new chalk board to draw on so to speak. Maybe I should build a 1/4 style mando and get her started early? I wasn't ready for this in another way, she was 7 weeks early but is very healthy at 4 pounds.

WOW! I forgot all about how beautiful those little things are.
Almost makes me want another one but I am also a bit too long in the tooth for that game again.
Congrats!

She is beautiful.
Most of my high school friends are grandfathers and grandmothers. And yet, here we are without even a child. I hope christmas brings us a pink bundle of joy. Give your granddaughter a big hug from us on the cafe for us.

Congratulations. I love being a grandfather. You get to love 'em and hug 'em, then when they start to get cranky, hand them back to mom and dad.

Keith you have only experienced part of it!

Congratulations Keith. Just one question, are you passing out Mandolins instead of cigars? If so, I'll take one http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hey there Keith,
It looks like Christmas came a little early for you. I send you all the best wishes to you and your family.
If you are handing out mandolins, I'll have an Oldwave C# style.

Congratulations, Keith! She's gorgeous.
Keith, congrads!!!
Now, as a Grand Parent your job is to spoil her ROTTEN (this is according to Bill Cosby among others). So, I'm surprised you haven't taken this role more seriously...Get moving on that pint size instrument collection...mando, guitar, violin...If you like your son a lot skip the drums, or you could make that THE grand parent revenge...your choice...
But what a Christmas Gift...

Congratulations to you and yours Keith. I get a warm fuzzy feeling just looking at her picture, and I'm not even related! Just sit back and soak it up-and then keep sitting because you don't have to get up to change the diapers on this one!

Congrats Grandpa Keith! Get her started on that little "little guitar", and then maybe you can pass on your luthier skills later on.
A side note to Greenmando:
Most of my high school friends are grandfathers and grandmothers. And yet, here we are without even a child.
I now understand your list of mandolins.

Congratulations Keith!
I joined the club this past June 30 with a grandson. 44 and a grandpa...yeah I'm lovin' it.
My son-in-law honored me by naming him after me ..Wesley... that is my middle name. Pride is a poor description of what I feel and a deep inner consuming love. I hope he grows up to be a good friend of mine.
I wish all the best for you and yours. Kiss her often!

Good ol Al! Hes looking to get a head start on that oval hole mando. He's a cutie.
#Thanks Karen, glad you still got lil Golden Delicious #7.
To everyone else thanks for the congrats! It is such a life changing moment that I knew was coming but really didn't think about it until BAM! it was happening. Now I find a strange feeling of anticipation and a bunch of scenarious running through my head and she's not even out of the hospital yet. She is having a hard time on a few issues since yesterday but should be fine.
# Again...THANKS ALL FOR THE GOOD WISHES!!
