Slingerland Songster

i recently aquired a slingerland songster archtop guitar in rough shape. someone seems to have punched a hole in it for a pickup, and i say punch because they managed to cut through the left parrallel brace and crack up the top pretty bad. does anyone know anything about these? it seems nice, its got grover tuners, is it possible to octave-mando-atize it?
