I don't know why this took so many years to dawn upon me...But with on-line access to our local library #there is a wealth of material out there. #The on-line part makes it much more convienient, but of course you can access through tle local branch. #

Punching in a few choice key words produced a stunning load. #Astute librarians have made good use of our public funding support. #Accessing on-line interlibrary loan, I found 370 hits for the Homespun series alone. #Its public, we bought it. #I had been debating purchasing some of the spendier items, e.g., Grisman's CD set and Statman's Jazz mandolin instruction series. #But having #a libary card alone, now they're on their way. #

The local music clubs often have a collection too, e.g., the Oregon Bluegrass Assoc here has a lending circulation.

Of course, its a temporary and brief loan. #And it might take awhile to receive them. #But if you're not in a hurry, this is a way to get them into your hands. [What you do with them then is up to you, and a discussion for another topic, e.g., copyrights]. It brings out the old 'kid in a candy shop' feel. #This is a resource I plan to use for many other genres. Jim

James, Thanks for the awesome idea! I've always been a heavy library user but the interlibrary loan thing never occured to me either - I did a few minutes searching online today, and the Steve Kaufman Parking Lot Pickers set, a Jethro Burns book, and a Sam Bush Book/CD set are now on the way!
