Does anybody know of an open jam in or around Houston, Texas? I'm a beginning mandolinist and would like to sit in, watch, experiment, breathe.

there is a nice little jam/concert happening this coming weekend. search for spring creek bluegrass and you should find it.
I am also a beginner on the mandolin. If you want to get together and jam sometime (or try to anyway) drop me an e-mail. I am in the woodlands/spring area.

for that matter if any of you beginners out here in the houston area, would like to jam some time just e-mail me. I have played guitar for about 4 years and mando for less than that. I dont really have much experience playing with a group, but I am always looking to make new friends.
Hey, Yall get something setup, and I'll come over from Lake Charles to jam.

I had NO IDEA that the BABA existed!! Dang, the open jam is within walking distance from my house! I feel like slapping myself with a frying pan.
Hey, Bluemando. You oughta come down from Spring and get in on this. Could be some fun..
Thanks low note! Great find, and much, much appreciated.
Daveb, i'm always passing through Lake Charles on business. Next time I get a minute, i'll stop by and shake hands..

don't forget out Old Time Jam the 4th Satuday most months in Huntsville about 70 miles north of Houston on I 45 at the Sam Houston Museum-Old Log Exhibit Hall. A number of folks come up from Houston and Sugarland each month. We will NOT meet this month, March, due to the Old Pal Festival in Palestine. Contract me sometime:

Oh, don't worry Mike. I've got that one highlighted, circled, and sticky noted on my calendar already. Very much looking forward to it.
Oh, Bluemando. I found a Links page on that BABA website with some stuff that may be closer to you:
Links - Bands - Instructors (http://www.bayareabluegrass.org/links&instructors.htm)
Might suit you more geographically.
