Got back from the Roanoke Weekend last night.Had a great weekend of picking and instruction from some great mandolinists.(is that a word?)Anyway,we had David Harvey,Butch Baldassari and David McGlaughlin.Herschel stopped in to each class pick a few and talk about his experiences. All were good with different teaching and playing styles.I especially liked McGlaughlins focus on tone and timing. We did an exersize with a rythym machine with playing a tune at your limit speed-wise,then slowing down to different speeds. Its great for timing.
We had Big Joe with all his mando-candy.The Distressed Master that he named"Firewood"was my favorite....someday...
Some really hot young pickers were just tearing it up,making us wonder about how they do it.
Had a one on one with Herschel to keep on trying to get Rebecca right.Great weekend,I'm still recovering.

As always, it was an incredible weekend. Great teachers, great jams, the best show on Saturday I may have ever heard. Make your plans for next year. You won't be sorry. Good to see you John, as always. I think Firewood has recovered much quicker than me http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .

They have a website, there is a link from the cafe under instruction or mandolin camps.
No pix,but they will have some on the site like past years.

Mark, it's the Acutab series of seminars. Good event, John Lawless is the guy who runs it.
