Hey all,
I recently purchaced an Garrison Mandolin from Griffiths Guitarworks in St.Johns Newfoundland. It's a Flatiron style ,satin finish,Spruce top, Birch sides, Griffiths top brace ,ect. I'm trying to find a Bridge pickup for it. Does anyone know of a pickup system for these styles??
Thanks

Contact Pick Up The World. Those guys can make you just about any size you want if you can take the measurements. Just talk with them and see what solution you can come up with.

IMHO; Get a Schertler Dyn M; a contact microphone, its for all styles, and moves to multiple instruments.
not being built in is an advantage.

Say, y'know there has been a certain amount of interest and curiosity about Garrison mandos here. #If you search, you'll find the threads. # A number of folks were wondering because they are, so far, very rare in shops.

I am very curious about them, too! #The last two Garrison guitars I played sounded good and were very inexpensive, but were also very heavy.

Tell us more about your G? # #Oh, also, Flatiron made F-styles, A-styles and some that looked like the World War I Army-Navy models... Which one is yours?

p.s. I love Pick-Up The World pickups, too.

Thanks!

Yeah, let´s hear more about it!
And let´s see some pics!

No saying on Garrison´s homepage about mandolins - do they want to keep it a secret?

I contacted Garrison a few weks ago seeking info on mandolins, and asking if they built other than dreadnought guitars- the response:

"Thank you for contacting us about our product line. At the moment, the
only models that we do manufacture are Dreadnoughts. However in the next
few months, we will be launching some new body styles on our website and
at the NAMM show. So I suggest that you keep an eye on the site as they
will be made available there first. Also, we are in the process of
getting some images etc of our mandolins for posting to our site. I
suggest as well watching the website for updates and further info on
this product. I have included in this email a price sheet so that you
can have a quick look.

..you're not gonna belive this...
The Mrs. and I flew down to Edmonton for a few days,I took the Garrison to have somthing to play and to find a pickup. I took it with me in the cabin, in it's case, it didn't get banged or nuttin. The next day we went first to Avenue Guitars. I layed the case on the counter, opened the case to find the bloody headstock snapped!!!
The break is behind the nut on the back where the headstock meets the neck. Needless to say, I was pissed!!!
It was strung with a regular 0.11 set of phospher's, standard tuning, nothing unusual. When we arrived at the airport the night before, I even had it out when a guitar player who was on the flight with us asked me about it. It was perfectly fine, in tune and playing lovely as usual. In the Hotel, it was layed, still in the case, flat on the desk. Not near a window or too close to the heater.
ARRRRGGGGHHH!!!!
I called Griffiths from the diner next to Avenue Guitars, trying to console myself with a Hinekien and a bowl of Gumbo, and they asked for some pic's, but were very helpfull. The saga continues!!!
BTW, it's an "A" style Flatiron inspired instrument. It really did play nice. It has a nice wide/med tall fretwire, and a wider than usual nut width. It's great for Newfoundland/Irish tunes. Not fancy by anymeans, but a nice little Mandolin.....lack of headstock not-withstanding (lol)!!!!

That's a shame. I hope you can get it repaired.

Oh no!
I hope you and the people in St. John´s can work this thing out. It beats me what happened!?

The UPS truck drove up at my frontdoor only yesterday, and delivered the Garrison G30LE guitar I ordered 3½ months ago. (I was like a kid on Christmas Eve, and still am.)
It looks and sounds absolutely great!!!

Good luck with the Garrison mandolin, I hope you get it fixed or replaced. I´ve heard a lot of good stuff about the people in St. John´s, so there should be light at the end of the tunnel.
