I've thought about making an A model. I could copy the graduations from an old AO top I have. But Did Gibson use the same graduations for the A models AND the A5 mandolin ( or even the modern ones). Leaving the same graduations only changing the holes oval to "f".

I have enough "parts to re-top the old AO body with a f hole top but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. Or if the AO graduations should be copied for the "A5" f hole top.

Wouldn't it be simpler and faster to just saw off that scroll thingie and points from one of those old F5's? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

(I'm curious about the answer to your question too! Have wondered the same thing..)

Is the major difference at the fret board extension? (Or all over?)
