You must be in Florida too. We got evacuated for Charley last year.

My daughter recently asked me which mandolin I would take with me if a hurricane were to hit at our house. I told her that since we were in TN. that I couldn't forsee that happening, but also told her that I'd try to grab all four of them if I could. Those opposable thumbs sure come in handy!

Best wishes, and I hope everyone in your area fares well!

Be glad you don't have a cello or Bass collection! Good luck and get the flock outta dodge.

Ship the mando to your most trusted out of state friend or family member overnite for safekeeping and keep your beater handy if you need a paddle! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

"Ship the mando to your most trusted out of state friend or family member overnite for safekeeping and keep your beater handy if you need a paddle!"

Great idea. We have very kind mando weather here in Indiana. I'd be happy to take care of it for you!

well, i got to look at her and play her a bit but it was after the laddie's bedtime when i got home.

breathtakingly beautiful -- Foley's inlayed binding is to die for, and my wife (who barely notices the scroll on my Fs) was cooing over the signature headstock and rosewood back.

the sound... what little i was able to play without waking up the little guy was definitely what i was expecting -- lively, deep, delicate, great sustain, terrific action... i played a couple of reels and woke my son, so wasn't able to get a full workout, but what i got was really lovely.

neck is wider than what i'm used to, so that will take adjusting to, but otherwise it is sweet sweet sweet and looks to be in excellent condition for a ten-year old mandolin and with negligible fretwear.

and hey, Wilma might be only a cat 1 when it hits Broward county over the weekend... in any case, i've got the Foley to entertain the family while we wait it out.

thanks for all the good wishes... #Steve in Tampa, take care, who knows where this thing will go...

We stayed here (Gulf Coast) for Katrina and hunkered down in a walk-in closet (an interior enclosed room). With us were all mandolins, valuable papers, etc; all precious things should be kept close at hand (spouse included, of course!)

Congrats on the new mandolin!!!

Make sure you have it in one hand and the family holding the other; if they tell you to go...well GO!!

I'm headed down to Mississippi on Monday to assist with cleanup efforts from Katrina. Keep a watchful eye out...and enoy that new mando!!!

Stay safe,
