Hi -
At first, I thought this was a 'special club' or 'men's grill' portion of this cafe! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Actually it's a restaurant by me that seemed to have opened and closed in about a month.
Thought you might like to see a few of the photos.

And finally.
I like the way that their logo looks both like a mandolin and a fork going into a bowl of spaghetti.

Where is(was) that place? What city?

Long Island, New York. A town called Syosset.
I think it closed quickly due to its location. VERY limited parking lot in front. The rest of the parking was adjoining a CVS, and there seemed to be a parking lot war going on.

As was documented on the board many moons ago, there was a resturant called the "The Mandolin Cafe" at one time, I can't remember where it was, but sadly, it shut down also.

Well in Richmond, Virginia (uptown, Main Street) there was a "Cafe Mandolin" that actually had a few beaters as decoration. For a while it was actually a real fine resturant with a delicious Mahi Mahi that was crusted with macadamian nuts. It ran for at least 5 years.
On the subject at hand, the logo seems to imply three tuning machines on a side - no wonder it failed.
