OLD TIME MANDOLIN
Nigel Gatherer explores the styles and techniques which characterise Old Time music. Old Time music was in part influenced by Scottish and Irish traditional music, and there are still many tunes of Scots origin in the repertoire. Nigel will examine at the differences and similarities. The mandolins will join the guitar players at the end to play a combined set.
CELTIC GUITAR
Dave Francis (The Cast, Bella McNab's Band) will look at chord patterns and different "voicings" in the common keys for Scottish music (G, D, A, F). Working on some of the same tunes as the mandolin players, Dave will be looking at ways of navigating the fingerboard and incorporating bass lines.
