I added this topic to the classical board yesterday. I'm including it here because Oswald's music is clearly rooted in Scottish folk. He is often credited as the composer of Flowers of Edinburgh and other classic tunes. These duets are more formal but still contain bits and pieces of jigs and reels that might be of interest to some of you who don't often check the classical section as well.

[drum roll] After years of fiddling around with this music I have finally put up a website containing the printed music of James Oswalds' "Eighteen Divertimento's for two Guitars or two Mandelins." Here's the link:

The site also contains a link to my longish article on these pieces and my arguments regarding their authorship. Please let me know if something doesn't work or if you spot obvious mistakes. I left Oswald's interesting spelling untouched so don't blame me for the use of "Divertimento's" and "Devertimenti", etc.

I've developed a real love of Oswald's instrumental music and I'm looking forward to leading a workshop on his work, especially these duets, at the Denver CMSA.

Have any of our erudite board members encountered the spelling "mandelin" anywhere besides the title page of this collection?
