Beautiful mandolin. I played a G5 a few weeks ago that really perked my interest. Does anyone know what kind of case that is? If it's not a Rigel exclusive, I'd like to get one for my F5.

Pumpkin? Reminds me more of butterscoth pudding with a dollop of whipped cream. I always was partial to butterscotch!

I think I'd really like it if they toned it down just a tad, made it matte instead of gloss, and had the back a dark redish color or brown. That'd be sweet. I wish more builders would do the natural stain front and dark backs. So nice looking. This one is nice though.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Pickguard reminds me of a dollop of whipped cream. I can see this on a back deck, beautiful autumn leaves falling, sun shining, turkey on the grill.

It needs cream buttons on the tuners, and while I'm at it- picking nits- lets have the case match the mando.
I'm getting a soft spot in my...head...for a Rigel oval hole to go with the G110- Maybe a G4?

Ted,

Outstanding Mandolin!!!! I wish you all the best success with it.

I have a question:

How did they get the "strap peg" in the back of the mandolin and have it not affect tone or sound?

Thanks,

Truly stunning; as elegant as the cream topped Q, which is hard to beat. I agree that iroroid buttons and pickgaurd too would be nice on this one. I'm going to have to get may hands on one of those someday...

Guys, I agree with you on the cream tuners. That would be the cat's pajamas!
However, one consideration in the early design of the Q-95 was market economy. Since mandolin suppliers are not very generous with options on the parts end, anything but a black or pearloid (plastic) requires machining, and that adds significantly to the overall purchase price. Anytime you have custom-machine parts, one runs the risk of pricing a product out of bounds. Still, that is an excellent thought, and this is an example of a "base" model. One can always upgrade!
As far as the strap button placement, this is also standard position on the A+ and R Series (pardon the commercial, folks), as this part of the instrument is just solid wood--not a lot of vibrating going on in comparsion to the rest of the instrument; definitley not a critical nodal point.

That is so, so cool! I love it! I learn a new tune every month, and my scheduled tune for October is "Turkey in the Straw." That would be the perfect mando for it, to be played at Thanksgiving! Dang nabbit, I'd like one. But I've spent all I can spend on mandolins this year, alas. Nice work, Rigel! Beautiful!

I wish I could, Bill. I'm not rich, just financially careless (ask my wife). Maybe I should say reckless.

Anyway, I honestly don't know if I could handle another amazing musical instrument right at the moment. Right now, I feel sort of overwhelmed by the mandolins that are sitting right here next to me. I truly, truly am not worthy.

But still - that pumpkin Q is really just awesome. If I had the extra bucks, I'd definitely order one right now.

I always thought the Rigels would sound wierd, based on just the pictures of them, until I played a bunch of them at Mandolin Brothers. They sounded incredible. They really have something going on up there in the fine state of Vermont. And they are certainly not afraid of innovation!
