As soon as I read this post I raced to look at the ad thinking WOW! maybe I can sell my truck or something and buy an F4/F5 pair and imagine the brick wall I smashed my face into when I saw the prices for those two beautiful looking instruments!
Oh well back to playing my Flatiron! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Yeah, offer subject to sale of house comes to mind. Great pair of mandolins though.
Thought about it, but I can't sell the house. Where would I store them securely? Well, the idea worked for a minute...tee hee

I usually refrain from any comment on classified adds I have, but, when you look at the H5 for sale at Elderly, missing it's p/g, body fill near the endpin, and a crack in the back... all for 100K.... considering the condition of these two mandolins, it's not unreasonable.
I am, of course, open to serious discussion.
Traditionally, Ferns were much closer in value to Loars than they are currently. Time was, in fact, that an even trade could take place, Fern for a Loar.
This great disaprity will narrow, IMHO, due to the high price of Loars, and perhaps a dose of reality. Ferns are realy fine instruments. When, I'm not sure, who can tell, it's just my opinion.
Anyway, thanks for the interest, keep up the talk, and have fun.
As for what other ones I have, bragging has never been an endearing charactoristic for folks.

Beautiful mandolins, but Ken has to just be "fishing" for the price he is asking. If you figure the actual amount paid to the sellers in the recent Skinner auctions, Ken's price is probably 30-40% more. However, who's to say they are not worth it? Hope he sells them for that!
