The original piano sheet music of The Entertainer has a dedication to "James Brown and his Mandolin Club". (not THAT James Brown -- obviously)

Skippy, npr usually lists the music played between and during stories on their website. I bet you could find it at npr.org

If you go to virtualsheetmusic.com and search by violin scores you can get a free pdf of the Entertainer arranged for solo violin. It is a fun tune to play. Or, let me know and I can email it to you, if you want.

Yes, "Dedicated to James Brown and his Mandolin Club", that`s the inscription on the sheet music that I have. I was also wondering about that and our well respected friend Eugene told me, that such clubs were not rare at the time when Joplin has written his compositions. We (http://www.plami.com/duodialogue/) recorded the piece 5 years ago.

As it happens, there is a mandolin ensemble arrangement of the tune in the tunes folder of the group I'm playing with. The repertoire is inherited from its predecessor group, a larger mandolin orchestra in the 1950s and 1960s. It works just fine on mandolin.
