Hi,

I got this via email from a cittern pal. Sean Laffey is the editor of Irish Music Magazine, so this is not only a neat idea, but may actually stand a chance of occurring.

If you like the idea drop him a line! I'd love to do this, as long as there were enough box players, fiddlers, banjo players, flute players, whistle players, etc... <GG> around to play with...

Hi Folks.

Would anyone on the list be interested in attending a Zoukfest in Ireland?

There is funding available for samll festivals and summer/winter schools,
but the deadline is pretty close (29 September).

We have a remit at the Cashel Summer Festival to create little mini
festivals throughout the year and we are tax cleared for grant purposes.
Would it be worth my while planning Zoukfest Ireland for March 2006?

If you want to reply off line, my contact eamil is slaffey@iol.ie

Cheers

Yep, I'd be real keen.

I sent him an email - keep us updated.

Don't forget that Sean's event isn't "Zoukfest" which is the one organized by a not-for-profit of the same name in the states. Great to see more bouzouki festivals though!

As a point of curiosity, how many zook players are there reading the cafe (and this thread I guess) that are in the UK or Ireland? I've seldom run into bouzouki players in London.. In fact I think Aidan Crossey is the only one I've played with! It seems that in the states the bouzoukis are almost as common as guitars or mandolins!

I'm one Cafe-reading bouzouki player in Ireland. (More Cafe-reading than bouzouki playing these days, come to think of it).
