View Full Version : Mandolin world news combo mando case
Does anyone here have any photos of those combo fiddle/mandolin cases, offered only by the Mandolin World News publication? Well appearantly they were made in the mid 80's?

I don't have a photo of that one,but if you are looking for a mando/fiddle case, here's one at Fine Cases:
Bobelock mando/fiddle (http://www.finecases.com/browse/bobelock/bobelock-1480.html)
I bought this one and am very happy with it. It has a big outside pocket and is sturdy enough for a drunk to fall on and still protect the instruments. Fine Cases also has some very fancy Cedar Creek mando/fiddle cases.

Here's my double Bobelock. I use it all the time and really like it. It offers good protection and ample storage for accessories. You can see my Intellitouch tuner and a shoulder rest is wrapped in the yellow polish cloth. It also has backpack straps for carrying at a festival.
I purchased it through finecases.com.

Ive seen Peter Mix with one of these old combo cases at the Joe Val festival, and I should have bought it when I had the chance, If I can find someoneone with one of these cases in good shape Id entertain the thought of a trade with my pegasus for it. Not evenly of course, the pegasus is worth more than the double case but would consider offering a fair deal. Does anybody know which case I am talking about?

back that long ago I'd bet it was a harptone case. I think elderly still has them
I guess this case that Im looking for was only offered through the mandolin world news publication in the early 80's I think they only made 4 of them, so chances of my purchasing one is not so huge.

I looked through about 12 copies of mine from that era this afternoon. Years spanned 1980-1984. I couldn't find an ad. Maybe you could contact David Grisman. He might remember.
